AA Daily Reflection – February 6, 2026 (Personal reflection)

Good morning, friend.
Today’s reading stirred something deep in me. It spoke about a place where we can all stand together — a rallying point. For me, that place is God. Not as an abstract idea, but as the solution we all share.

No matter how different our stories look on the surface, we share a common insanity. We all carry that same ache — a hole inside that longs to be filled.

Trying to Fill the Void

For a long time, I had no idea what to fill that hole with, so I chased anything physical that promised relief. Drugs. Alcohol. Sex. Distractions. Anything that offered a moment of escape.

None of it worked.

Alcoholics Anonymous helped me crack open a door I didn’t even know existed. On the other side was an infinite power that wanted me just as much as I needed it. That realization changed everything.

But I had to be willing to seek it.

The Power of Choice

One of the reasons this program works for me is that the choice is mine. I can choose any path I want. No one forces belief. No one dictates what God must look like.

Personally, I had to see the other path first to know I didn’t want it.

I wasn’t someone who could be told, “Life can be great — just chase God.” I had to feel hell before I would ever seek heaven. That pain became my motivation.

Discipline Over Despair

I’ll be honest — I’m slothful and fearful by nature. I’d much rather eat doughnuts all day than choose healthy food. I’d rather avoid discomfort than practice discipline.

But I’ve felt the despair that comes from that way of living.

So today, I work to stay disciplined. I try to listen for guidance instead of impulse. I don’t do this perfectly, but I do it willingly. And that willingness keeps me connected to something greater than myself.

God in the Fellowship

The reading also made me think about how God shows up in meetings. That’s why we pray at the beginning — to invite God in. And why we pray at the end — to thank God for the help we received.

It’s no different than asking for help in the morning and giving thanks at night.

God is everywhere and always has been. The work is learning how to tune in — through our thoughts, our words, and our actions.

Today, that shared willingness becomes our rallying point.

I hope you have a great day.
